Coldstream Guards Colours

This artefact belonged to Alfred Hawskby, a Coldstream Guard who fought with the 2nd Battalion in North Africa and was also detailed to guard Churchill and Roosevelt during their meeting at Casablanca in 1943. Mr Hawskby came to Kington in 1945 as part of the 3rd Battalion Coldstreamers. From Kington he was posted to Palestine. Mr Hawksby returned to Kington to marry Miss Dorothy Mary James and work as a gardener at Ridgerbourne for the Banks family. He passed away in 1984.
