Kington Camp

Education

The interactive education materials are in the process of being placed on line. So far, you can explore the following:

EVACUEES

Who was evacuated to the countryside?
Test your knowledge on who was evacuated to the countryside and who remained in the cities.

Play the ‘Who was evacuated’ game

What could an evacuee take with them?
Evacuees were only allowed to take a few important items with them, do you know which ones?

Play the ‘What could an evacuee take’ game

GLOBAL CONNECTIONS

Creating a storyboard
Children should open the storyboard and plan their programme.
To prepare them for this they should view a Pathe News item to get an idea of the style of reporting.

Cards
Download a set of ‘Would You Rather?’ cards to be cut up and given to the children. Each card poses a dilemma for the children to consider, for example:
Would you rather be a child evacuee from Liverpool or a prisoner of war from Italy?
Cards provide examples to represent the people who were living in Kington during the war.
