The Virtual Ward
In 2006 a detailed building survey was undertaken of one of the surviving ward buildings of the 122nd hospital. Using this information, contemporary photographs of other hospital buildings and the testimony of those who remembered the wards at Kington Camp, Gareth Beale and Graeme Earl at Southampton University began to construct a virtual reality ward to help us visualise what it might have looked like in 1944/5.
At the moment, to view the animation for the web version of the ward you will need to download the relevant movie files as you go. However, we are working to develop a better system. To view the fully animated version come and visit the installation at Kington Museum when it opens in April 2009.
