Access for visually impaired users
We have three facilities which are aimed at increasing accessibility to the Kington Camp Project for visually impaired users, all of which are available to use in the project exhibition which will be on show at Kington Museum in April 2009:

The Talking Tactile Tablet has two textured overlays which can be used to explore the history of the camp. The first overlay provides a map of the US hospitals and links this to audio material gathered during the project. The second overlay is a schematic that orders the historical information into themes. The TTT is part of the new exhibition installation that recreates the corners of a Doctor’s office at the Camp.

The installation also incorporates a Touch Screen which can be used to access the online education materials, all the audio material as well as the virtual ward.
A multi sensory booklet provides information about objects in the Kington Camp Exhibition in large type, textured diagrams and braille.
If you have any comments or suggestions on how we can improve the exhibition for visually impaired users we would very much welcome your comments.
